Uni Piaget has participated at the 5th National Health Research Congress (CNIS), which took place on November 7th and 8th in the city of Praia.
The topic of the event was “Scientific Research and Priorities in Mental Health” and it brought together experts, students and professors from various areas of health.
The University was represented by a large number of lecturers and students from the Life, Nature and Environmental Sciences Unit (UNCVA). Among the highlights of the participation, Professors Ana Moniz, Djeniffer Ramos and Lara Gómez have presented scientific research, with Prof. Ana Moniz being one of the main voices in the panels on mental health.
In addition, UniPiaget students stood out during the event: seven of the nine papers presented in the free themes’ sessions were from the institution, and two of these have received merit awards.
The students Sofia Monteiro, Masters’ student in Tropical Diseases, and Deliane da Moura dos Reis, a recent graduate in Nursing, were awarded prizes for their studies on obstetric violence and patient adherence to retroviral treatments, respectively.
The congress has addressed several important topics, such as mental health policies, communicable and non-communicable diseases, social and environmental determinants of health, and current health research priorities.
This event is a valuable opportunity to discuss and promote mental health in Cape Verde, as well as allowing health professionals and academics to exchange knowledge.
UniPiaget participation in CNIS reflects its commitment to advancing scientific research and developing solutions to the country's health challenges.
